The FARMACY Program, introduced and sponsored by Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation (MCHC) in 2015, is meant to provide healthy foods to patients with dietary restrictions. With support from Passport Health Plan and WellCare, MCHC is now writing prescriptions for fruits and vegetables to patients to be redeemed at the Letcher County Farmers Market in Whitesburg!
Step One
If you are a patient at Mountain Comprehensive Health Corporation, you may be eligible for a prescription for fresh fruits and vegetables. If you are eligible, they will write you a prescription with the amount being based on the number of members in your household.
Step Two
When you arrive at the market, bring your prescription to the Market Manager table where it will be exchanged for wooden five, and one dollar tokens.
Step Three
Use your tokens with any of the growers to purchase fruits and vegetables.
